schneider is struggling? when does one game equal struggling lol. if he has 5 games in a row like the last one then that would be struggling.

Playing Luongo...a guy they are trying to move, instead of "your guy", isn't good me thinks.

You're right, he is playing lights out, Vezina Trophy numbers, nothing to worry about.

Doesn't matter though, you could put Dan Cloutier in net tonight and beat the Flames

Schneider's starting today and the plan was to start Luongo last game all along since it was a back to back. AV and the staff usually have planned starts for the "backup" goalie in advance. Quick got lit up too so I'm willing to give Schneider a pass for the first game, especially since our defense was awful and we really only have one legitimate scoring line right now. It's going to take some teams/goalies a couple of games before they really get into game shape.

Wow, that was kind of a fanboy writeup of the two teams.

No doubt he is technically struggling, but it was just a couple of periods of hockey and his defense did him no favours either.

And don't worry, the Canucks lines 2-4 will likely make all 6 of your d-men look like all-stars. All you have to is limit the Twins to 1 goal and you have a pretty good shot at winning.

I would argue that this game is more important foe the Flames to win and not go 0-3 as Van probably has more skill etc. to make up ground when they are healthy.

Totally agree that CGY has to watch fwd's sneaking in behind them as they gave up at least 5 goals this way to the Sharks and Ducks.

Kipper getting the start? Kip finding his game, tightening up the D zone play arew the keys for CGY I think. With VAN's 2nd line MIA, successfully shutting down the twins will also go a long way.

GFG!!

I agree, it has been a lot of sloppy play all over the league to start things off. I guess it should be expected. Our D was terrible in our 1st 2 games as well and Kipper was less than mediocre. It'll take time.

The difference tonight will be the extra day of practice the Canucks had, which is most important during these first few weeks of the season when everybody is rusty, evidenced by the high scores, blowouts and upsets we have seen in the first week of NHL action.

Good point, but scoring will still be an issue unless Schroeder can provide a spark.

This is true, though the main point I was trying to get across is that both teams are trailing 0-2 and each side has their disadvantages right now. For Vancouver, I feel as though Schneider really stepping up and establishing HIMSELF as the number one tender this year (especially in this shortened year) will prove to be difficult and stressful, given the amount of talk surrounding the tenders of late.

Hopefully my points came across well enough, I didnt have as much time as I normally do to get into a lot of detail.

I think its gona be an odd year in terms of teams making the playoffs. Basically if you can get on a hot streak for about 10 games or so your in. Injuries of course will be a major factor this year with condensed schedule.

I imagine he will be getting the start until they are either mathematically eliminated, or he's injured. Dont expect to see much of Irving this year.

Makes sense. I could see the nucks not making the playoffs. That second line is going to be a mess for a month which is alot of hockey this season.

If Schneider doesn't play well...all hell is going to break loose. If Schroeder doesn't get a hat trick, people all over the boards will call him a bust!

No pressure!

I hope we see Irving on the back to backs at least. I don't want Kipper getting hurt because he doesn't get any rest.

You never know what's going to happen. If the wild take the division and Van falters for a while, they could very well miss the playoffs. Then van vans can get back to it's usual habit of declaring the season is over before it's even started. The good old days!

I think you're right. Anyone calling any team a lock for the playoffs at this point is either delusional or completely clueless... A couple of key injuries can drastically change the outcome of a short season for virtually any team in the league.

It really is a complete crapshoot in a 48 game schedule.

Fair enough, I udnerstand where you're coming from. People overlook the fact that Luongo is the kind of goalie who plays even better when he's playing almost every game and faces a lot of shots and he's a proven workhorse goalie that can handle a 65-70+ game load in a full season. Schneider has yet to prove that in the NHL and his numbers could take a hit in that role.
